The Garden of Earthly Delights

Not long ago, Ah Sou and I accompanied Meng Fong to stock up on clothes in Jusco departmental store. I being the curious one, would always stroll off and look in different departments for attractive and eye-catching things.

Saw a puzzle set for a painting called "The Garden of Earthly Delights". I found it interesting and set to look for more details and information online. And I’ve got it vide Wikipedia.

The painting is not an ordinaThe Garden of Earthly Delights was painted by a Dutch painter (Hieronymus Bosch) and dated back to 1504. I like this painting, though old and antic but it isn’t any ordinary conventional painting. Note that it’s quite abstract. Very interesting piece of art.

Found it to be different as it is not painted on a canvas, instead it was painted on 3 different wooden panel which can be closed to resemble a cabinet. On the outer panel, this is how it looks like.

When opened, it reveals the beautiful painting.  On the left panel:-

The left panel depicts "Heaven" where everything is perfectly beautiful and peaceful and prior to the establishment of humankind, and Adam and Eves together with Jesus Christ was featured in it.

The middle panel:-

The middle panels depicted "Earth". Humankind sinned and enjoyed their life without fearing God.

This is Hieronymus way of describing "Hell". Sinners are doomed to hell and are are treated to various nightmarish torments including being eaten by a giant bird (it is said to represent Satan *look for it!*)and defecating coins.

Interesting? What do you think? :)
